FRASER BETTERS GRANDSON'S PREDICTION Print E-mail

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
12th October 2008

Australian swimming legend and Alice Springs Masters Games Patron Dawn Fraser has won silver in the 50m individual freestyle today at the games swimming in a time of 48.25.

Competing again after many years break, Ms Fraser is delighted with her result.

“I'm really pleased with my time; my goal was to break 5o seconds” said Ms Fraser.

"I feel great, and I am really proud my grandson Jackson was on the sideline cheering me on. I could hear him from the starting block and it gave me a real boost.

“When I asked Jackson this morning how he thought I would go 'he said bronze' . I did better than he predicted!" said Ms Fraser.

Dawn Fraser will swim her 4x50m freestyle relay and 4x50m medley relay this coming Thursday.

"i'm looking forward to the relay races on Thursday. I think I may go a little faster because I enjoy the team focus that relays offer; swimming with a team is a great experience," said Ms Fraser.

First place went to Barbara Wilson-Brooks from Victoria with a time of 47.59, and the bronze was awarded to Barbara Hart from Western Australia from 49.19.
