The Alice Springs Masters Games 10km run this morning saw a three-way tie for outright gold with runners Eli Melky, Richard Bryson and Stephen Blake crossing the line together in a time of 38:38.
Road and Cross Country Coordinator Jenny Richter said that the time-keepers couldn’t separate the runners.
“We tried to determine who crossed the line first but we couldn’t; they crossed together,” she said.
“It was clear that it was their aim to run it together. I think it’s great; it is really in the spirit of the Games.”
Eli and Richard were in direct competition, both being in the 40-44 age category, while Stephen is in the 45-49 age category.
Canadian runner Steve Sullivan crossed the line second overall in a time of 40.52, and Ken Jones from Victoria crossed third in 42.46.
The first female runner across the line was Kylie Lucas from Victoria in a time of 43.22, followed by Cheryl Carter from South Australia in 44.09 and Sharyn Hunter from Victoria in 44.59.
