The Alice Springs 8 Ball Association welcomes you to the 2010 Alice Springs Masters Games!
Coordinators for the event are Dennis Baker and Brett Ireland, assisted also by Sharron Hill, Andy Anderson, Veng Rogers and John Richards. The program for the Games is set for a late afternoon start and we want to adhere to that.
Saturday begins with the march and this is a good time to meet old and new friends, have a bit of a walk, feed and watch a good concert. Sunday can be a free day from 8 ball, but we like to get together at the venue, the Federal Sports Club (Undoolya Road). We hope to run a knockabout competition and we will put up the draws for the week’s events.
Monday will be the start of play with all age group single at 5:00pm. The format options for each will depend on the number in each group. All day of play will begin at 5:00pm and the Fed’s club will be open for lunch and tea on all playing days.
For all players that may be participating in other sports, be aware that in the interests of all players and time factors, we cannot give you a free card to roll up when you are ready to play. We will try to accommodate as much as possible, but be aware that the end round is as much time as we can give you.
As these are the ‘The Friendly Games’, we don’t need umpires, but the rules still apply. Please just call your own fouls and if you see an opponent commit a foul, you can tell them (in a polite way of course!). If there is a query at any time before or after a shot, please ask for an adjudicator. No decision is possible if the next shot is played, remembering that the spirit of the game rule is paramount to all.
The Games Centre
The Games Centre will be located at the Alice Springs Convention Centre on Barrett Drive and will be the focal point of all Games services such as check in, registration, media & photographic services, merchandise and memorabilia sales.
Licensing and Meals
The Club is fully licensed open from 12 noon till 12 midnight. Meals will be served from 4:00pm to midnight.
Emergency Exists
Please take note of Emergency exists and procedures which are displayed at the main entrance of the venue.
Dress Standards
Dress standards do apply so clean and suitable attire is necessary.
Parking
Parking is available at the Club, remembering that Netball is across the road, and that they may also use the space.
Transport
A free bus service will operate for the duration of the Games for registered participants, running between the various accommodation venues and return. To use the free bus service, you are requested to make booking one day prior. Bookings can be made by calling 1800 4 UR BUS (1800 487 287)
Road Closures
Please make yourself aware that there will be road closures throughout Alice Springs during the week so as they don’t prevent you from getting to where you need to be.
Results
Results will be available at all times at the desk, and posted on the Alice Springs Masters Games Website (www.alicespringsmasters.com.au)
Sports & Events
Games will start at 5:00pm Monday to Thursday (Friday only if needed). We do try to accommodate people playing other sports, but within reasonable time frames. Phones are handy to ring the co-ordinator with, because he wont ring you. Last game on should be no later than 11:00pm.
Meet & Greet
Join us at the Federals Sports Club on Sunday 10th October at 5:00pm for a met and greet and social game.
Draws
Please find your draws attached to your program.
Rules and Umpires
World rules will be used for the Games. Copies available till sold out. Umpires are not required as these are the ‘Friendly Games’. However, we do have Adjudicators to rule or clarify on any point of order. An Adjudicator must be called in before the next shot is played or the game will go on. If not happy with a decision, a panel can formed for a final decision. Remember, the spirit of the game rule can over rule all.
Presentations
Presentations will be after the last final of all events. We hope for a Thursday night finish.
