Welcome
Alice Springs Softball would like to welcome all participants to the 2010 Alice Springs Masters Games. Whilst in Alice Springs we hope that you take the opportunity to see some of the great sites in and around the town.

Location
All games will be played at the Jim McConville Park on Memorial Ave.
Click here to see map for directions.

Divisions
This year we are looking at reintroducing the Over 45 Division to see what interest is received, if there is insufficient interest for a good round of competition the nominated teams will be combined with the Over 35 Divisions and then split for the Medal Round.  If this occurs points awarded during the minor rounds will only be counted for the teams that you play in you nominated Division for example if you are nominated for the over 35 division and play 5 games against the over 35 teams and 4 games against over 45 teams only the points gained against the over 35 teams will count for the Medal Round.

Please note that players must be 35 years and over or 45 years and over, a team may have a coach, scorer or umpire under the age of 35 or 45 years but not players.

Game Times and Durations
Depending on the number of teams registered all games will be played between 9am and 5.30 pm with the minor rounds commencing on Sunday the 10 October. Medal Rounds will commence on Thursday 14th with the Gold Medal games being played on the afternoon of the 15th October.

Diamonds, Training Grounds and Warm up Areas
Jim McConville has 4 diamonds for playing on and if required there will be special ground rules for Diamond 2. All Diamonds are scalp infields and grass outfields with sliding bases on all diamonds, cones will be utilised to mark the individual diamonds as this is an open park.
Training will be available to be scheduled in the days leading up to the competition for those teams that arrive early but please ensure that you contact Cathie Allen to organise times.
Warm up areas will be available in the out field on each diamond but we will be asking that teams do not warm up on the infields as the diamonds will be marked ready for the games.

Parking
Limited parking is available adjacent to diamond 4 off Milner Road for teams playing on that diamond, as well as the marked parking and car park on Memorial Ave.

Transport
A free bus service will operate for the duration of the Games for registered participants running between the various accommodation venues and return. To use the free bus service you are requested to make bookings between 8:00am and 6:00pm one day prior to the event. Bookings can be made by calling 1800 4 UR BUS (1800487 287)

Canteen and Bar Facilities
Canteen will be available at the grounds daily if there is any specific requirements that we can assist with please contact Cathie Allen to discuss this.
Bar Facilities will be available daily from 12 noon for consumption at the grounds only (No take away available) Alice Springs Softball supports a sensible drinking policy.

Sports Medicine
Alice Springs Softball is hoping once again to have the pleasure of Graham as our Sports Medic if he is available.  The sports clinic will also be operating at the stadium at Traeger Park and available to all participating players and officials (just ensure that you have your Medicare Card with you at all times).

Results
Results will be on display at the clubhouse as well as at the Games Centre and online at www.alicespringsmasters.com.au

Umpires Change Rooms
Change rooms will be available for the umpires adjacent to Diamond 1.

Technical Meeting
A Technical meeting will be held on Saturday the 9th of October at the Gillen Club, Milner Road commencing at 1pm sharp, please ensure that your team has representative present as the toss for the minor rounds will be conducted at this meeting.

Water and Ice
Ice will be available from Milner Road Supermarket and it is recommended that due to the climate in Alice Springs all participants consume lots of water (apart from the other liquids that you may enjoy) prior to and during the games. Please ensure that your team is equipped with a water bottle.

Alice Springs Weather
During this week the weather can be very unpredictable as it is across Australia, the temperatures could range between 14 degrees at night to 42 degrees in the day so please be prepared we have also had occasional rain during this time. If temperatures on the field rise above 42 on the playing surface then Alice Springs Softball will be utilising a heat policy to ensure your safety, this will be at the determination of the Plate Official and the Co-ordinator.
