The Course The Alice Springs golf Club course is a fully grassed championship layout designed by Peter Thompson and Michael Wolveridge and completed in 1985. The course meanders through low hills and rocky outcrops with the majestic MacDonnell Ranges forming an impressive back drop and has been recognised as one of the top 25 resort courses in Australia. It is also regarded as being one of the best desert courses in the world. Whilst our fairways are lush and green, errant shots are likely to land in one of the many rocky outcrops and it is therefore advisable to carry an old "rock iron" so as not to damage your other clubs. Some rock irons are available for purchase in the pro-shop. The course measures 6,223 metres for the men and 5,376 metres for the women. Par is 72 for men and 73 for women. Drinking water is available on the course. However, it is also advisable to carry some extra drinking water as our weather can be quite warm during October. We are situated only 2km from the Central Business District of Alice Springs being located on the eastern banks of the Todd River. The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Lasseter’s Hotel Casino, the Desert Palms Resort and the Novotel Outback surround the course and are within walking distance. Club Storage Containers will be available for club storage free of charge to all competitors. Some lockers suitable for smaller item storage are available by payment of a small refundable key deposit. Locker numbers are limited so perhaps you may wish to share one with a friend. Shower facilities are available in the locker room. Pro Shop Our Pro Shop, owned and managed by Stephen TIECK (AAA rated PGA Professional) has a large range of clubs, balls, gloves, shoes, clubs, shirts and hats. Practice range balls can be purchased from the Pro Shop. Pull buggies are available at a nominal charge; however, as numbers are limited it may be advisable to bring your own buggy. There may also be some pull buggies available from local members. Weather Central Australia is a continental desert environment and has an arid climate with a hot summer. October is usually very pleasant with an average max temperature of 30.9c and minimum 14.6c. Hats and sunscreen are essential, especially in summer. Visitors to the area should guard against dehydration by drinking lots of water - no matter what the season. Tee Times Morning - 6am to 8:15am approx Afternoon - 11am to 1:15pm approx Handicaps By the time of the Games in October 2010, the new Australian Handicap System will be in place. This may affect some aspects of the games, such as your handicap changes and we will update this progress via the Masters Games website as it occurs. You will be required to produce a current Club or Golf Australia membership card that must show your current handicap as at the start of the ASMG. If not a Golflink member you will need to provide your last twenty scores so the rolling handicap can be calculated daily. If your club is a member of Golflink, then your Golflink card or number will be accepted in lieu of a handicap card. Clubs with several members participating can either email a list of handicaps and scores to the coordinators at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or fax a list of the handicaps to the Alice Springs Golf Club on (08) 8953 4091. Shirts Commemorative golf shirts are available for pre-order at a cost of $60. Payment for the shirt is to be made upon collection. Do not pay this money with your registration fee. A minimum number of shirts will need to be pre-ordered before we can place our order with the manufacturer. Late Entries Entries received after the official ASMG close of registration may be accepted subject to numbers and subject to the payment of the Sport Levy and a late fee of $25. Any such late entries will not be officially recognised by the ASMG. Unless you are already registered for another sport, you will not receive any of the ASMG free merchandise reserved for ASMG participants. Motorised Carts A limited number of motorised golf carts are available for hire. Preference for use of the hire carts will be as follows: 1. Competitors holding a current, valid medical certificate requiring a motorised cart, 2. Competitors who have difficulty walking 18 holes, 3. Older competitors, and 4. Anyone else.
