Please let Mandy know which track events you will be participating in. We also need numbers for catering for the BBQ at Bond Springs Station after the King of the Hills race on Sunday 17th October. Saturday 9th October 6:30am sign on for the 20 km (all ages) Road Time Trial Riders will need to make their way to the Twin Ghost Gums on Larapinta Drive (16km from the CBD) for the race start. The course runs west for 10km from the Twin Gums to a manned turn-around point. This event involves cyclists riding in single file separated by a time break of 1 minute. Sunday 10th October 6.30am sign on for the Town Council Criterium Circuit around the council chambers, Todd St (approximately 900m). Assemble on the council lawns. Start/finish in Todd St. Females 30 to 49 years 20 minutes + 1 lap Females 50 to 79 years 15 minutes + 1 lap Males 30 – 39 years 30 minutes + 1 lap Males 40 – 54 years 20 minutes + 1 lap Males 55 – 84 years 15 minutes + 1 lap Monday 11th October 7.30am sign on for the Mountain Bike Cross Country: Riders will sign on at the white gravel car park off Kurrajong Drive for the 8.00am race start. Riders will complete laps of a 6 km circuit of a rocky trail with short ascents and descents, mixed single track and fire trail of moderate difficulty. Females 30 – 34 years 4 laps Females 35 – 49 years 3 laps Females 50 – 59 years 2 laps Females 60+ 1 lap Males 30 – 34 years 5 laps Males 35 – 54 years 4 laps Males 55 – 59 years 3 laps Males 60 – 64 years 2 laps Males 65+ 1 lap Tuesday 12th October 5.45am sign on for the Flynn’s Grave Road Race Riders will need to make their way to the Flynn’s Grave car park on Larapinta Drive (6km from the CBD) for the race start. Please ensure that you have lights for the ride out to the start. The course runs 20km, 30km and 40km west along Larapinta Drive to the respective turn-around points. Females all ages 40 km Males 30 – 49 years 80 km Males 50 – 64 years 60 km Males 65 + 40 km Wednesday 13th October 5:00pm – 7.30pm for Track Training This is a great opportunity for new participants to familiarise themselves with the Alice Springs Velodrome and for regular competitors to meet up with old friends again. Full bar and canteen facilities are available at the Velodrome which is located on Dalgety Road, off the North Stuart Highway. It is a 333.33 metre outdoor concrete velodrome. Track bikes are available for hire for $20.00. This gives you exclusive use of the bike on both Wednesday and Friday nights. Thursday 14th October 7.30am sign on for the Pigs Race Cyclists assemble at the end of Eagle Court on the gravel area. The Pigs race is a timed 1 hour circuit race around a 3km course. Each time a lap is completed the rider throws a pair of spotted pigs and obtains a score based on how they land. The score accumulates with each successive lap however there are some rolls which will wipe out your score for that lap. This fun race is based as much on luck as it is on skill! Thursday 14th October 7.15pm (approx) sign on for the Street Sprint Assemble on the council lawns south of Todd Mall. This event will be held in Todd St following the running of the Master’s Mile foot race. A 180m standing start sprint with optional starting ramps. Each rider has 1 attempt at the sprint, with the fastest time in each category winning. Friday 15th October 2.45pm sign on for the MTB Short Course The MTB Short Course will be held at 3.00pm, immediately prior to the Track Racing at the Dalgety Road Velodrome. The course runs around the northern perimeter of the velodrome, through the tunnel, crossing the centre of the velodrome and exiting through the access gate on the opposite side. The winner is the rider who completes the most laps in a 15 minute period. Friday 15th October 5.00pm sign on for the Track Racing At the Velodrome, Dalgety Rd of North Stuart Hwy. Canteen facilities, including meals, will be available. Non-trackies come along for some entertainment. Scratch Race The 5km Scratch Race is a mass start race over 5km (15 laps) conducted in age divisions (to be determined by registrations). Some age divisions may be run concurrently but medals will be awarded to each age group. Flying 200metres This is a 200metre sprint against the clock from a moving ‘flying’ start. Sprint Race/Derby – determined by the number of starters in the division A 1km (3 lap) match race between 2 or more riders who start on the line together. It is sometimes referred to as the ‘Cat and Mouse’ race. Full bar and canteen facilities are available at the Velodrome. Sunday 17th October King of the Hills 9.30am sign on at the Dalgety Road Velodrome All Alice Springs Masters Participants and ASCC Members and their families are invited to compete in this annual ASCC event held since 1974. Riders start at the corner of Dalgety Road and the North Stuart Highway and ride north through the hills to the High Point Marker (approximately 16km). Join us afterwards for presentations and a BBQ Lunch at Bond Springs Station, (approximately 5km of dirt road off the North Stuart Highway). All ASCC members please bring a salad to share. There will be drinks available for purchase. Non ASCC Members are asked to make a donation of $10.00 per person. Please register your interest at the Pre Race Briefing. King and Queen of the Hills Shields will be presented to the first male and female riders over the line. Two $100.00 sprint bonuses will be paid to the first male (Tony Muscat Memorial Sprint) and female (Alex Rhodes Sprint) rider reach the top of the first hill out of town. (This event is not part of the official Alice Springs Masters Games) Regulations The Alice Springs Cycling Club conducts the Cycling events under the Cycling Australia Insurance. Consequently all events comply with the Cycling Australia Technical Regulations. Please note that for safety reasons only bikes with drop handlebars will be allowed in the road races. No aerobars are allowed in the road races, including the criterium (the individual Time Trial is the only exception to this regulation).
