MAYOR KEEPS PRE-ELECTION PROMISE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 10th July 2008 A man of his word, Alice Springs Mayor Damien Ryan is keeping his pre-election promise to be an Ambassador for the 2008 Alice Springs Masters Games. Mayor Ryan volunteered to be an Ambassador before he was elected Mayor this year, and he’s adamant that he’ll follow through on his word. “Not much has changed since I committed to take on this role in the Games, except that work has become a little busier. I really want to represent Alice Springs during the Games in the great way that only Ambassadors can, and there’s plenty of ways to,” Mayor Ryan said. “My days can be quite hectic and it will be hard to find time during business hours, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to fulfil my Ambassador duties at early morning sports like Athletics. I’m a morning person anyway! “The Alice Springs Masters Games are always looking for new faces to get involved in the Games, so I really encourage anyone and everyone to give it a go. “I’ll be at an information night for anyone that’s thinking about becoming a Games Ambassador, so they don’t have to worry about being the only new person!” joked Mayor Ryan.
